Arsène d’Arsonval

Arsène d’Arsonval was born in June 1851 at the Domaine de la Borie in La Porcherie.

He began studying medicine in Limoges and finished his studies in Paris where he met Claude Bernard, a physiologist and professor at the Collège de France. Thus he was able to get into the Collège de France where he would spend his entire scientific career until his retirement in 1930. His most known work concerned electrophysiology especially the medical aspect of it known as 'd’arsonvalisation'. Despite all this, D'Arsonval devoted eight years of his life to La Porcherie as Mayor from 1882 to 1900. It is at the Domaine de la Borie that d'Arsonval passed away on the 31st of December 1940 and he now rests in a chapel in the woods by his two wives.

The Domaine de la Borie is now open to the public  during the 'Journées du Patrimoine" thanks to an agreement with the Collège de France that owns the estate.
